Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Fighters Table

Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a diverse cast of personalities, and a gripping narrative showcasing celestial beings, fiends, and sinister influences increasing in strength within the city.

Heads-up: Revealing details for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed

The latest chapter ended with a huge suspense moment and introduced the premier party of characters who will branch out from the main group to begin their separate journey, distinct from the other two tables.

The combat-focused team consists of Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie).

Dividing the Cast

Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the beginning that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.

Hence, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three separate parties: Fighters, Strategists, and Seekers.

The Nature of the Combat Party

Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who are drawn to a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where diplomatic options are few and far between.

Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might look unsuited, but the events of episode 3 show why these five characters are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.

Motivations for Departure

For one thing, the party knows exactly where to go next after a violent first encounter with the enemy group.

Casimir of Thjazi—whose passing kicked off the narrative’s action—exploited The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, invading Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to dispose of.

Casimir then cleared his debts and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.

Individual Reasons

Additionally, each character has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as the close ally and closest confidant, wants retribution.
  • The knowledgeable figure has experience in Timmony and advises that it is a dangerous location.
  • The strong character and The cleric, having disobeyed his house’s orders to execute Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
  • Yet, their position as important members in House Halovar could assist the party reach locations they normally couldn’t.
  • Furthermore, Teor vowed a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now go with him anywhere.

Fugitives

Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern the city for a multiple motives, making staying in the city too risky:

  • Thimble and The character are known criminals.
  • The warrior and Wicander turned against House Halovar and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
  • The fighter is marked for death by the family.

This leaves them no alternative but to head to Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.

Upcoming Developments

Based on the latest episode’s Cooldown, we find out that the Soldiers table won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the players to assemble the Explorers and Planners parties.

Fans can look forward to discovering which adventurers will be where in the story’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on October 24.
